Dr. Lakhmir Singh
Dr. Lakhmir Singh earned his PhD. on the research topic entitled “Molecular characterization and intermolecular interaction of coat protein of Chrysanthemum virus B infecting chrysanthemum” from CSIR-IHBT Palampur. He has developed diagnostic protocols (ELISA & RT-PCR based) for the detection of Chrysanthemum virus B infecting chrysanthemum. During his postdoc, he worked on suppression of gene silencing in Tomato yellow leaf curl virus (TYLCV) at Institute of Plant Sciences, Agricultural Research Organisation, The Volcani Center, Israel from Nov. 2006 to May, 2008 and then Oct. 2009 to May, 2010. He has unrevealed the interaction of V2 protein of TYLCV with ASK1 and tomato homolog SKP1 indicating a possible mechanism for the suppression of RNA-silencing activity, leading the SlSGS3 protein to degradation. He has completed a DST sponsored Fast Track Project entitled “Identification of host targets of Cucumber mosaic virus in Cucumis sativus for pathogenicity” to identify the host factors which are directly involved in viral infection.
