Brief Proifle

He has earned his Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Mohali. His doctoral studies focused on the structure-function relationship of Vibrio cholerae cytolysin, a β-barrel pore-forming toxin, particularly, the role of different structural motif(s) in interacting with host cell membrane as well as the secretion of this toxin by the pathogen in human gut, leading to the diarrheal disease, cholera. He has also worked on Helicobacter pylori TlyA, a pore-forming toxin, secreted by Helicobacter pylori, causative organism for gastric ulcers. His current studies aim toward the structure-function characterisation of streptokinase-like proteins for development as potential agents for thrombolytic therapy. He has published 7 research papers in international peer-reviewed journals; JBC, FEBS J, BBRC, Biochemistry, and has presented his research in international and national conferences.
