The Department of Commerce, Business Management, and Economics (CBME), DAV University organized a two-day International Conference on Strategic Perspectives and discussed “Performance Implications of Internal and External Organizational Linkages”.

 

In his inaugural address, Prof. Rishikesha T Krishnan, Director IIM Bangalore, and former director of IIM Indore highlighted the importance of resource management in strategy implementation. He said several invisible resources like personal network connections of the team members played a pivotal role in achieving goals. He also interacted with the delegates and answered their questions after his address.

Prof. Krishna Kumar, former Director, IIM Kozhikode and former Professor and Dean (AA), IIM Lucknow deliberated on execution challenges and emphasized the importance of operand resources in addition to operant resources during his discussion on strategy implementation in his keynote speech.

 Prof. Atanu Ghosh, former Professor of Strategy, SJMSOM, IIT Bombay, and Former Dean, School of Management and Entrepreneurship, IIT Jodhpur was the Keynote speaker on the second day of the conference. He talked about disruptive innovation and explained its performance implications for firms.

The conference was held in a hybrid mode and the delegates participated in an offline and online mode simultaneously. More than eighty researchers from different States of India and other countries registered for the conference. Scholars from Australia, South Africa, and Oman also presented their research papers in online mode. Fifty-two papers were presented in the different technical sessions of the conference.

The first technical session was chaired by Dr. Sonia Chawla, Professor and Head of Dept. at NIT Jalandhar. The second technical session was chaired by Dr. Gurjit Kaur, Professor, Jammu University. On the second day, technical sessions on Business Strategy and Strategic HRM were conducted.

Dr. Gitika Nagrath, Dean, Faculty of Commerce, Business Management and Economics (CBME) spoke about the highlights and strengths of DAV University. Dr. Girish Taneja, Head of the Department spoke about the achievements of the department.

The valedictory address was delivered by Prof. Krishna Kumar. He suggested how the strategy execution can be made effective by looking at different components of the value chain and preparing a checklist for each component for realizing the vision and mission of the organization.

The conference concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Sandeep Vij, convener of the conference. Dr. Satinder Kumar and Dr. Ashutosh Gupta were the co-convenors.
