Faculty orientation programme organized at DAV University

To introduce new faculty members to the institution, its culture, and essential policies, as well as to provide an overview of teaching support and resources, a two days Faculty Orientation Programme was conducted.

The program began with the DAV Gaan, followed by an inspiring inaugural address from the Vice Chancellor, Dr. Desh Bandhu Gupta. He emphasized the importance of faculty in shaping the academic future of students and highlighted the institution’s vision for academic growth and excellence. Worthy Registrar, Dr. Sushma Arya provided a detailed overview of the institution’s policies, procedures, and code of conduct. This session was crucial for familiarizing the faculty with administrative processes and institutional expectations. Dr. Smriti Khosla conducted a session focused on strategies for teaching excellence, discussing innovative methods to engage students and improve the overall teaching-learning experience. After this Dr. Keshav Walia presented a session on the latest trends in pedagogy, highlighting active learning, flipped classrooms, and technology-enhanced teaching methods to ensure better student engagement. Next session was covered by Dr. Nakul Kundra discussing the essential aspects of curriculum development, including aligning learning outcomes with assessments and adapting curriculum designs to meet the evolving educational landscape.

The afternoon session focused on faculty-student interaction models, exploring how faculty can create positive, meaningful relationships with students and mentor them effectively. The second day of the orientation program delved into key aspects of faculty communication, data analytics in teaching, and creating inclusive classrooms. Dr. Anju Pathania delivered a lecture on ethical communication in academic settings, emphasizing the importance of transparency, integrity, and professionalism in faculty interactions with colleagues and students. Mr. Sanjeev Sharma presented on the growing role of data analytics in education. Post lunch, Ms. Vidya Pandey focused on building an inclusive classroom environment, addressing diversity, and adhering to conduct codes that ensure fairness and respect for all students, regardless of background or abilities.

The program concluded with feedback from the participants, followed by closing remarks, highlighting the key takeaways and encouraging ongoing faculty development.
