DAV University, Jalandhar hosted a transformative three-day Faculty Orientation Programme (FoP). The event aimed at integrating modern technology and innovative teaching to meet the demands of 21st-century education. The FoP targeted at faculties from the Humanities, Commerce, Business Management and Economics, and Psychology departments, was inaugurated by Vice-Chancellor Dr Manoj Kumar.
In his opening address, Prof. Manoj Kumar emphasized the necessity for educators to acquire new skills to enhance teaching effectiveness in a technological era. He also highlighted the critical role teachers play in shaping students' futures. Registrar Dr S K Arora described teachers as true role models for guiding students in line with contemporary demands.
Dr Gitika Nagrath initiated discussions on Student Engagement and Outcome-Based Education, encouraging faculty to align their teaching practices with the university's vision and mission. She underscored the importance of planning educational activities based on program and course outcomes, and designing engaging activities to deepen students' understanding.
The next day, Dr Atul Madan, a clinical psychologist, led a session on "Teaching in the 21st Century: Engaging and Empowering Students for Active Learning." He covered blended learning, flipped learning, and the use of information and communications technology (ICT) tools. Dr Namrata Joshi from Guru Nanak Dev University elaborated on modern teaching approaches such as gamification, project-based learning, and peer learning. Dr. Amit Kauts from Guru Nanak Dev University discussed enhancing teaching effectiveness through research-based education, problem-solving, and student feedback.

The last day featured Dr Monika Dewan addressing the challenges of teaching students with diverse mindsets and the characteristics of 21st-century learners. Dr Jagwinder Singh from NIT Jalandhar, focused on SWOT analysis, inclusive teaching approaches, and the importance of case studies, open dialogue, and critical thinking.
