IQAC (Internal Quality Assurance Cell), DAV University, Jalandhar organized an informative workshop on Latex on 23rd Sept' 22. The resource person for the event was Dr. Harjot Kaur, Post Doc-fellow CSIR-CSIO, Chandigarh. Her areas of research are distributed Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. The goal of this workshop was to make research scholars well versed with LaTeX software, a de-facto standard and typesetting system. It can be used to produce variety of document types including presentations, articles and reports to make them professional looking documents. Latex is also suitable for management of bibliography. LaTeX is widely used in academia for the communication and publication of scientific documents in many fields, including mathematics, computer science, engineering, physics, chemistry, economics, linguistics, quantitative psychology, philosophy, and political science. It also has a prominent role in the preparation and publication of books and articles that contain complex multilingual materials, such as Sanskrit and Greek.
LaTeX uses the TeX typesetting program for formatting its output, and is itself written in the TeX macro language. Around 60 students attended this workshop. Dr. Jasbir Rishi, Vice Chancellor, DAV University appreciated the endeavor taken by IQAC adding that this is important for students who want to pursue research in future. During the event Dr. K.N. Kaul (Registrar), DR. R.K. Seth (Dean Sciences and Engg.), Dr. Manik Sharma (Dean CSE & CSA), Dr. Sapna Sethi (Director, IQAC) and Dr. Rahul Hans (Deputy Director) were also present.
