Jalandhar, June 21

DAV University introduced B Tech Mechatronics programme focused on electric vehicle (EV) engineering in collaboration with L&T Edutech, a subsidiary of Larsen and Toubro. This programme, the first of its kind in India, will feature courses taught by L&T experts and is set to begin this session.

Mrs Febin M F - Head-College Connect Business at Larsen & Toubro and Dr Manoj Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, DAV University. L&T signed the MoU. L&T EduTech will also set up a state-of-the-art Centre of Excellence for E-Mobility & EV at the university.

Dr. Manoj Kumar stated that the industry-integrated programme aimed at enhancing job opportunities for graduates, aligning with the shift towards electric vehicles in the automobile industry. The curriculum was developed with input from L&T Edutech, and students will complete projects in each course and participate in six-month industrial training with L&T.

Ms. Febin emphasized the programme's relevance to the rapidly expanding EV industry, noting its importance in meeting government goals for electric vehicle adoption in commercial and personal transportation segments. She highlighted L&T's commitment to evolving industry-academic partnerships. L&T is a synonym for trust, performance and quality. The industry and academics must evolve with the changing demand and B Tech Mechatronics was a step in this direction.

Mr. Ashish Mishra, Institutional Sales Regional Lead at L&T, mentioned that the company’s 18 subsidiaries recruit 34000 fresh graduates annually and that the EV industry requires skilled engineers ready for leadership roles. L&T is the third largest recruiter of manpower in the country. The EV industry requires trained engineers who pick up quickly and get into leadership roles, he said.

Those present at the event included Mr Jaswant Singh, Branch Manager, L&T, Chandigarh, deans from various departments and faculty. The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr Gitika Nagrath, Dean, CBME and Humanities.
